Short Story
       It was the day of game 7 of the NBA Finals, and Dwight Love was walking into the stadium, alone and isolated from everyone. He was the star player of the expansion team, the  Boise Money. It was the teams first season in the league, and they shocked everyone by getting to the finals. It was also Dwight Loves first year in the league, and while expectations were high for him, he still surprised everyone and became an elite player and all star. When Dwight was about to walk into the stadium, three big men wearing ski masks grabbed Dwight and pulled him into an alley. One of the men pulled a gun out and held it to his head.
       "Please don't hurt me! I'll do anything!" Yelled Dwight.
       "Shut up and you won't get hurt!" Yelled one of the men who had taken Dwight.
Dwight understood their orders, and kept his mouth shut.
       "Listen up Dwight." said the man with the gun. "We've made a hefty wager on this game, and if you lose, me and my two buddies here will get millions of dollars. We know that you're the best player on your team, and if you play bad, chances are you'll lose."
Dwight knew were they were going with this, and he couldn't believe it. The man with the gun continued talking, and said, "Essentially what I'm saying is, if your team, the Boise Money, loses to the Pistons, my friends and I will get lots of money, and we'll give you some too. But if you win, none of us will get any money. Just as a reminder, if you play well, chances are you'll win. And if you win, I'm not sure if you or your family will live past tomorrow."
Dwight was left speechless by what he had just heard. Lose intentionally?, Thought Dwight. He knew what the men said was true. If he played well, they would win. If not, they would lose. The three men pushed Dwight away, directing him to walk into the stadium. Dwight had the biggest decision of his life to make, and he knew that it wouldn't be easy to decide what to do.
      Dwight went through his normal shoot around and did his pre game routine, but with the game about to start, he still hadn't decided whether to play hard, hopefully win and have a possibility of he and his family living, or play bad lose, get some money and stay alive. When the ref through the ball up, indicating the start of the game, Dwight decided. He was going to play hard, try to win, and right after the game take his family far away. After all, his team was supposed to be last in the league, but they fought hard and were determined to prove the doubters wrong. It wouldn't be fair to his team to not give it his all. He still knew that even if he tried his best, he still could have an off night, or they could lose. But Dwight pushed those thoughts out of his mind. He was in it to win it.
    After three and a half quarters of play, the Money were tied with the Pistons at 80. Dwight was having one of his best games of his short career, as he had scored 38 points, had 10 assists and 6rebounds on 14-19 shooting. Unfortunately, the Pistons were playing great, as Jonas Jerebko was scoring a career high 53 points. Also, no one else on the Money were doing well, making it essentially a one man show for them. The game went on, and with 10 seconds left, the Pistons had the ball with the score tied. Jonas Jerebko drove to the rim for what seemed like a potential NBA Finals winning shot, but out of nowhere Dwight came and blocked the shot. With no thoughts of the potential murder, Dwight quickly dribbled up the court, with the crowd all on their feet, and loudly cheering for their star. With three second left, Dwight reached half court, his heart wildly racing, thinking about how he would be an eternal star if he made this shot. With two second left Dwight was just behind the three point line, still driving strong. And with one second left, Dwight pulled up at the free throw line, and with a hand in his face, shot the ball as the buzzer went off. The shot looked good all the way, and to the delight of Dwight, his teammates and the fans, the shot went in. Nobody could believe it Dwight and his teammates celebrated at mid court, with the crowd loudly cheering and the confetti falling from the ceiling. It truly was the greatest moment ever for Dwight and his teammates, as they had worked so hard to prove everyone wrong all season. When Dwight left the stadium that night, all thoughts about what happened before the game left his mind. All that he could think about was that he was a champion and a hero. That was all he could think about until the three men grabbed him and pulled him into an alley, where his family was tied up with socks in their mouths. Dwight was stunned. Before the game started he thought they could escape right after the game, and during the game he completely forgot about it. But it was to late to do anything now.
       "Remember what I said earlier Dwight, about how if you won you and your family wouldn't live." Said the man with the gun.
Dwight gulped and quietly mumbled something that none of the other men could hear.
     "Shoot them." Said one if the men. The man with the gun obeyed, and Dwight saw his mom, dad, brother, sister and wife get shot all in a row. Blood was everywhere, and Dwight got onto his knees and started loudly sobbing. His wife's head rolled right in front of him, a mere moments before Dwight too got shot in the head.

A Good Man Is Hard To Find

I liked thi$ $tory a lot. It was really very good. Unlike all the other $tories we have read, thi$ one had lots of murder! What a feel good $tory! Overall A+

The title has $ignifigance because the grandma wa$ just talking about how good men were hard to find. Then, they run into a very bad man. This was ironic. $he wa$ al$o trying to convince The Mistfit he wa$ a good man. Then $he got $hot.

I didn't like thi$ $tory. It was weird and creepy. Al$o the end wa$ very unclear in my opinion. Overall it wa$ O.K. I would've liked more sk8boarding and murder

Thi$ $tory wa$ very detailed. I think there wa$ 2 much detail. My favorite pa$$age wa$ when he $aid, "I $aid I quit." I like it becuz he wa$ $tanding up for what he believed in. That$ what made that pa$$age meaningful. Overall thi$ $tory was O.K but needed more $k8boarding and more murder$.

A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings

I didn't really like thi$ $tory at all. It wa$ very odd and kinda weird. I wa$nt really $ure whether the "angel" wa$ real. I don't think that he wa$ real, which made it pretty annoying that other people believed the $tupid "miracle." Overall I thought thi$ $tory wa$ odd and illogical.

Half A Day

I think that thi$ $tory was intere$ting becau$e it changed time in the $tory. I didn't know that he wa$ the grandpa. Thi$ $tory really confu$ed me initially becau$e I didn't know that he wa$ the grandpa. Once I knew he wa$ the grandpa I thought the $hort $tory was intere$ting and good. Overall it wa$ good.

I think that this $tory was intere$ting and entertaining. The author wrote about how girl$ who are different race$ act differently. I think that thi$ deci$ion was intere$ting becau$e lot$ of people can get really mad over race and $kin color and $tuff like that. Overall I think thi$ was a good $tory. It definetely wa$ entertaining. I would reccomend thi$ for $hort $tory enthu$ia$t$.

THE END

Happy Endings

I think that the story Happy Endings was very interesting and well written. I really enjoyed the idea of having multiple endings. It was cool how they went over lots of endings. The first ending was a typical happy ending, where they fall in love, get married, have kids and a good job, and live happily ever ever. This was a boring ending because this happens in pretty much every book and movie ever made. The second ending started off pretty normal, until Mary turns into a train wreck because John doesnt love her back. I liked it at the end when Mary died and John didnt care. The third ending turned dark pretty fast. I liked when John said he brought the gun for target practice. Right when he said that I knew that Mary and James would be dead. That ending was really good. The fourth story was very boring. They start off all happy, but then a tidal wave destroys everything. They make it out alive but they dont say how. The next one I didnt really understand. I was confused on what was going on. The last one said that begginings are more fun than endings. I disagree with this. I think that endings are more fun because mostly thats when people die.


MY ALTERNATE ENDING

John and Mary start dating, fall in love and get married. They both are super excited for their wedding. Everything went great on their wedding day, and the months that ensued. They spend their time together skateboarding, watching Michigan football games and playing Call Of Duty. They have the perfect life, and eventually have three kids, who they name Denard, Rad Chad, and Genocide. John and Mary want each of their kids to be very successful, so they send Denard to the Michigan football academy, Rad Chad to the sk8boarding academy, and Genocide to the call of duty academy. All of the kids love their schools, and John and Mary love their life. After twelve years of going to their schools, Denard, Rad Chad and Genocide all make it pro in their respective fields. Denard becomes the quarterback of Michigan, Rad Chad becomes an X Games star, and Genocide gains 100 youtube followers on his channel, where he shows videos of him playing COD. To John and Marys delight, all three children make their debuts on the same day, in the same town. John and Mary are lucky enough to go to all three events. First off is Denards football game verses Apallachian State. Michigan is one of the best teams in the country, and Appalachian State is horrible. Unfortunately, Denard plays horribly and Appalachian state upsets Michigan. In the locker room, a distraught Denard starts crying. He cries so much that he ends up drowning in his own tears. John and Mary dont know this, because they are already are at Rad Chads X games event. On Rad Chads first Sk8boarding jump attempt, he lands akwardly, and has to be taken to the trainer. The trainer accidentally injects him with poison, instead of medicine. Rad Chad dies, but his parents dont know this, because they are already at Genocides Call Of Duty match. Midway through the match, Genocide goes to the bathroom. He doesnt come out for a long time, so some of his friends go get him. They reveal that he has died from Mountain Dew overdose. John and Mary dont know this, because they had to leave early. When John and Mary get home, their perfect life comes to an end. They get a call that all of their precious kids have died. John and Mary both have heart attacks and die.

And of clay we are created was a story that I thought was very sad. I kept waiting for her to escape, and I found it really disappointing when she has half buried alive. In history we learned that a personal story is sadder than just looking at statistics of what happened. Giving a personal story makes you really feel bad about what happened, while just the facts don't make you feel as much. Overall this was really sad, but it's important to remember that lots of other people also died, not just this girl.

The story of an hour

I think that this story was very surprising in many ways. The plot twists were amazing! I thought that it was pretty mean though that she was happy that her husband had died. It wasn't like her husband was abusive, he loved her very much. I was super surprised when her husband showed up and then she had a heart attack and died. Overall this story was good and exciting.
